I was at a special screening for Sex and the City 2 tonight. I have already seen the film once, and it wasn't particularly good. The first in the series was superior by far. Still, I admire Carrie Bradshaw and all of her friends and their fabulous lives. Ever since the show premiered in the 90s, I have always wanted to do what Carrie did, but for fashion instead of relationships. Not to mention, I have never been in love - and I am probably one of those rare individuals that isn't really in a hurry either. What I admired about the show were good friends. People that you can live your life with. Not all love if forever, but friendships - good friendships, can last an eternity. Now on to the clothes:
Patricia Field (stylist) was in rare form for this film. For once, Samantha had the best wardrobe. Carrie's looks were a little over-the-top, and out of character for the character. I wasn't particularly let down, but I was definitely underwhelmed. On a side note, I love that Carrie freelances for Vogue - that is really my DREAM.
Sex and the City 2 was a great film for what it was - a celebration of friendship. I think that people expected too much and then was let down. Still, I was inspired by Carrie - though she came off a little annoying, and how fabulous her career is. She certainly came a long way from regular columns in a small New York newspaper, to syndication and New York Times Bestsellers. This is what I hope for most in my own career!
