For affluent fashion concerned individuals, nothing is more exciting in the US, than New York Fashion Week. Three years ago, I covered my first fashion show - it was Walter. The show was off premises, it wasn't even at Bryant Park, but I didn't care. To me, everything was fabulous and fashion fantasy. I eventually ended up in the tents at Bryant Park covering all kinds of shows and going to several parties. The whole thing was and is, one of the things that I most look forward to. But in the tradition of firsts, this is my first New York Fashion Week experience at the Lincoln Center. The only difference is that now, everyone else is in the same boat as me. This is the first time that fashion week is being done in the tents at the Lincoln Center. My attitude has been a bit inconsistent about this change. It takes some getting used to. It seems like just yesterday, I was at Walter, trying to get to Bryant Park. Once I got there, I loved it - and I still kind of miss it.
Fashion Week is all about the invites and seating charts. You can always tell how important you are based upon your proximity to the front row. I have been as close as the second row - and was uber-excited! So far, this week, I have been everywhere from the second, third, fifth, and standing room sections of each venue. My mailbox, and inbox have been flooded with afterparty invites, and show invites. I love to keep them for aesthetic value. Phillip Lim's invites are always especially beautiful. Some shows, I didnt RSVP for, because I knew I wasnt going to be able to attend. My schedule and agenda is completely flooded, and there are still four more days of this. From what I hear, Paris is more hectic. I can only imagine being this busy, and not even be able to speak the language of the land.
